I had tried alot of so called solutions to improve my golf swing like the ledbetter swing setter and countless golfing lessons from my local pro but I just used to go back to my old ways, take golf grip for instance, when I was having a bad round my golf grip would get so tight that it would take an army to  have pulled the club from my hands.  I would not judge the pace of my putts correctly, and as for reading greens I never really paid much attention to it.  But most of all my golf swing would speed up with frustration trying to hit the ball a country mile in order to out drive my playing partners.

Putting Tips – Drive For Show Putt For Dough

Putting really is a game within a game, If you can sink those crucial 6 footers and control the pace and distance of your putts consistently then you’ll be in a different league to your competitors.  When I was learning how to break 80 this skill was the break through point for me.  If you want to see for yourself where I developed my golfing skills to become a single figure handicapper click here and enjoy.

I really do feel for you when things are not going well on the putting green, there are so many elements to factor in such as distance to hit the ball, grain of the grass, how much break to play, uphill, down hill the list goes on and all these has to be taken into account.  I believe that this area of the game is where most of your shot are lost, when I made big steps forward in my putting it was then I first broke the 80 barrier.

Learning how to break 80 comes with many challenges and not least mastering the art of putting, My playing partners were soon asking me for putting tips as they to saw the improvement in my short game.  I still have bad days as do we all, some days the golf ball just won’t drop but it’s all part of the game, learning to deal with that frustration is a big key to keep your game on track.  If you let your putting get to you, your golf grip tightens your golf swing gets erratic and all the golf lessons you’ve had all go out the window if you let your putting get to you.

So a great putting tip I would give you is to understand all the factors that go into a putt such as technique,green reading and thought process but most of all practice.  You always see people on the driving range hitting balls till their blue in the face, but how many of them practice their putting? not many!

Golf Instruction – Stop Throwing Silly Shots Away!

If your going learn how to break 80 then you better stop thinking your Tiger Woods and play to your own ability.  My biggest problem was that I would watch the pro’s on TV and try the big shots all the time, the trouble it got me into was unbelievable and so silly when I think back now.

So first of all you must play smart, don’t get roped into ego battles with your playing partners and play to your strength’s.  One of the best golf tips for starting your quest to break 80 is to stop trying to murder the golf ball with your drives.  I found that standing behind the ball and visualizing the shot I wanted to play in my mind then with a gentle golf grip and a smooth golf swing, only hitting the ball at 70% I would hit double the amount of fairways and believe it or not my distance improved.

This one change alone made a massive impact on my golf game, the freedom those great drives gave me to take  pressure of my short game and in turn put pressure on my playing partners.  There jaws would drop at the ease I was showing them how to hit a draw and how to hit a fade at will of the tee.

I was learning how to break 80 at a fast rate and it was frustrating my playing partners.  I took great pleasure in watching as they would turn up with the new and latest driver on the market hoping that it would turn their game around, I also learned that they was secretly having golfing lessons in a bid to beat me.

While I’m on the subject of changing equipment I want to point out that I’m very big on getting the right gear tailored to your golf swing and body stature, but changing your clubs every time you have a bad round or reading that the latest greatest club will transform your game will work, it won’t trust me on this one.  Consistency is key and if you want to knowthis is very important.

    This whole site is dedicated to showing you how to break 80.  It’s a massive achievement to accomplish but it’s not easy.  I had to endure the ups and downs that golf throws at you, with useless golf tips from my playing partners and thousands spent on golf lessons I finally found a training course that put me on the right path to playing consistent golf.   Picking the right shots at the right time and thinking my way round the golf course is only just a few skills I’ve learnt along the way.

    I was consistently shooting in the high eighties most weeks, my playing partners and I were all of the some skill level so it was always competitive between us.  The banter would start as soon as we would meet on the practice green, within the first minute of warming up the putting tips would start flying around and then onto the first tee the golf swing would be up for criticism.  Once we all teed of though it would be down to business for all of us.
